Tiger Woods announces new championship golf course to be built near the new Mayflower Resort.
Tiger Woods and his TGR Design team have inked a deal to create Marcella Club, a private championship course in Park City, Utah.
The Marcella Club is a partnership between Marcella Mountain and Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge. Marcella Mountain, which is part of the new Mayflower Resort near the Jordanelle in Wasatch County, will include ski-in, ski-out homes. The golf courses will be built on the east side of U.S. 40 in a planned development called Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge. Construction on the first 18 holes will begin later this year.
Eyebrows rose when the rendering was revealed, showing the par-72 layout would measure 8,064 yards from the back tees. However, given Park City’s elevation of 7,000 feet, the course won’t play nearly that long.
In a statement on the TGR website, Woods notes that the course will be a stern test for low handicap golfers, yet also present a fun, family-friendly experience to allow individuals of all skill levels to come together and enjoy the course.
